    International congress REENCON-XXI/PRESS RELEASE

    14.10.2016

October 14, 2016 – Solar Systems, LLC attended the round table "Technologies and solutions for renewable energy," which was held at the site of the International Congress REENCON-XXI.
REENCON-XXI "Renewable Energy XXI century: energy and economic efficiency" is an initiative of the Russian Academy of Sciences, National Research University Higher School of Economics and the International Sustainable Energy Development Centre under the auspices of UNESCO. In 2016, the Fund "Skolkovo" and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the City of Moscow were co-organizers of the Congress.

The Congress was organized with the active support of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The Congress was attended by international experts in the sector of energy and RES: Teksler A.L, First Deputy Minister of Energy; Michael Hackethal, Deputy Head of Division International Energy Agency, Bilateral energy co-operation with non-OECD countries; Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy; Chubais A.B., Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO MC LLC and others.

Representatives of international organizations for RES development: Deger Saygin, IRENA; Martin Hullin, Project Manager at Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21); Sergey Tulinov, Chief Economic Expert of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) held a presentation of innovative projects: «REmap» - global renewable energy roadmap, Roadshow REN-21 in Russia, RES development trends in the Asia-Pacific region .

The problem of localization and development of domestic renewable energy technologies was indicated within the framework of the round table "Technologies and solutions for renewable energy". RES support policy have paved the way for localization of equipment production and import of technologies. A thorny issue has arisen recently – absence of a financial platform for national scientific development.

Mikhail Molchanov, Solar Systems CEO, commented on situation in the energy sector of Russia: "By 2020, we will have built 10 solar parks in 5 regions using Chinese investments, amount of which exceeds 32 billion rubles. We are entering an active phase of energy revolution when the energy landscape is changing daily. Will Russia take a path of localization and import of technologies or will it be engaged in development of its own technologies, is hard to imagine, since we are only in the beginning of a new stage of industrialization. Our experience in renewable energy is a combination of different approaches. When implementing SPP projects we compile best domestic and foreign technologies. In 2016 SPP installed capacity in Russia hasn’t exceed 60 MW, in China - 43.1 GW. So we won’t be able to join the group of leaders in the following decade. In order to change this situation it is necessary: to extend RES support policy until 2035, to improve financial accessibility, to test RES support measures in the retail electricity market, to develop new support programs, taking into account international experience (investment grants and subsidies, tax discounts, government guarantees, "green quota"), to develop a set of measures to support households who wish to buy localized equipment."

Session "Renewable energy - climate problem solving tool" attracted a lot of attention of representatives of science and business, as green energy gradually acquires the status of "energy of the future". Crises make us think about new technologies and about searching for ways to use RES in Russia.

Solar Systems, LLC was established  in March 2014 for the purpose of construction and operation of solar power plants on the territory of Russia. The company is currently implementing projects in Samara and Astrakhan Regions. Solar power plants in Volgograd Region, Stavropol Krai and the Republic of Kalmykia are planned to be constructed in the next two years. Due to commissioning of 10 solar parks, total installed capacity of power systems of these regions will increase by 240 MW. Cumulative investments will surpass 32 billion rubles.
